'''Cynan ab Iago''' (c. 1014{{citation needed|date=February 2013}} {{ndash}} c. 1063) was a [[Wales|Welsh]] prince of the [[House of Aberffraw]]. His father, [[Iago ab Idwal ap Meurig]], became [[King of Gwynedd]] in 1023, and his son, [[Gruffudd ap Cynan|Gruffudd]], later became king.

Iago was King of Gwynedd from 1023 to 1039 but was killed (possibly by his own men) while Cynan was still young. The throne was seized by [[Gruffydd ap Llywelyn]], a member of a [[cadet branch]] of the royal dynasty. Cynan fled to [[History of Ireland (800–1169)|Ireland]] and took refuge in the [[Kingdom of Dublin]]. The only record referring to Cynan as King of Gwynedd is the ''[[Historia Gruffud vab Kenan|Historia hen Gruffud vab Kenan vab Yago]]''.
