Huntington is located in eastern Angelina County. [[U.S. Route 69 in Texas|U.S. Route 69]] passes through the city, leading northwest {{convert|10|mi}} to [[Lufkin, Texas|Lufkin]], the county seat, and south {{convert|40|mi}} to [[Woodville, Texas|Woodville]] and {{convert|96|mi}} to [[Beaumont, Texas|Beaumont]].

As of the [[2020 United States census]], there were 2,025 people, 1,172 households, and 851 families residing in the city.

As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 2,068 people, 757 households, and 560 families residing in the city. The population density was {{convert|758.0|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 894 housing units at an average density of {{convert|327.7|/mi2|/km2|disp=preunit|units&nbsp;|units|}}. The racial makeup of the city was 87.19% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 8.56% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.58% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.19% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 1.35% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 2.13% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 3.72% of the population.
