The '''Non-Proliferation Trust''' ('''NPT''') is a U.S. [[nonprofit organization]] that, at the beginning of the 21st century, advocated storing 10,000 [[ton]]s of U.S. [[nuclear waste]] in Russia for a fee of $15 billion paid to the Russian [[government]]<ref name="Palast">{{Citation | last=Palast | first=Gregory | title=To Russia with love and $15bn | newspaper=The Observer | date=29 July 2001 | url=https://www.theguardian.com/business/2001/jul/29/columnists.theobserver| accessdate=7 May 2011}}</ref> and $250 million paid to a fund for Russian [[orphanage|orphans]]. The group was headed by [[Admiral]] [[Daniel Murphy (admiral)|Daniel Murphy]].<ref name="Palast" /> This proposal was endorsed by the Russian [[Nuclear power|atomic energy]] ministry, [[MinAtom]],<ref name="Palast" /> which estimated that the proposal could eventually generate $150 billion in revenue for Russia.
