The [[Indo-Greeks]] are mentioned in ancient sources as having occupied the areas of the Patalene ([[Sindh]]) and [[Gujarat]], including the strategic harbour of [[Barygaza]] ([[Bharuch]]),<ref>"Menander became the ruler of a kingdom extending along the coast of western India, including the whole of [[Saraostus|Saurashtra]] and the harbour [[Bharuch|Barukaccha]].
