'''Sycamore''' is a name which has been applied to several types of trees, but with somewhat similar leaf forms.  The name derives from the [[Ancient Greek]] {{lang|grc|σῡκόμορος}} ({{translit|grc|sykómoros}}) meaning {{gloss|fig-mulberry}}.
