Paul Ernest is currently emeritus professor of the philosophy of mathematics education at University of Exeter, UK.<ref>{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref> He is best known for his work on philosophical aspects of mathematics education, which includes establishing the subfield entitled the philosophy of mathematics education, and for his contributions to developing a social constructivist philosophy of mathematics. He is currently working on questions about ethics in mathematics.
