Perhaps this article should be removed from consideration since it has been vastly improved since it's existance as a stub, and it seems to have been an unofficial CCOTW due to it being on VfD. Spinboy 17:39, 22 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Tommy DouglasEdit

Tommy is the Greatest Canadian! His article should be expanded to reflect his greatness. (By the way, this is fact, not bias. I voted for Trudeau ;-) Earl Andrew 03:14, 1 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Grey CupEdit

An important Canadian cultural event/artifact. Could use serious expansion. Lommer | talk

Oak Ridges MoraineEdit

The article currently has some decent information on the Oak Ridges Moraine, but given the importance of this natural region to south-central Ontario, I believe it deserves to have a far greater scope. Mindmatrix

  • Support. The Moraine is the source of water for the Toronto area and there is a huge struggle to keep it from development. The story of this struggle is an interesting one and should be told. Sunray 00:57, 2005 Jan 22 (UTC)

Blizzard of 1978Edit

The article is quite nice as is, but shows a serious limited geographic scope, and not a single word is mentionned of effects in Canada, which was hit quite severely (my parents could confirm, having been stuck at school for 2 days)--Circeus 16:41, Jan 24, 2005 (UTC)

Isaac BrockEdit

Reasons for nomination: The saviour of Canada, and all he gets is a pthetic little stub? I have gone through and massively overhauled the article, but I'm still pretty new and don't know what it would take to get this up to feature-article material. Scimitar May 18

  1. Captmondo - The update that has been made is very good; wouldn't take much to bring this up to feature status
  2. Scimitar, this article is much too good to require nomination here. The CCOTW is used to grow an article from a stub or small article to a decent, but not feature-quality article. The comprehensiveness of the Isaac Brock article suggests that you should review the following instead:
  3. Hope this helps. Mindmatrix 02:12, 29 May 2005 (UTC)
  4. Thank you for the clarification, Mindmatrix. When I found the article, it was a measly little stub, and I overhauled it myself since I didn't realize this page existed. After the overhaul, I figured, hey, he's probably got enough to be a feature article, so I'm trying to push that through now. I'm not sure how to withdraw the nomination here, but clearly it is now out of place.

Thanks again. -- Scimitar 15:30, 30 May 2005 (UTC)

  • I'm not sure if there is enough material on this subject to write a featured article-quality piece on this subject. -Lommer | talk 02:08, 24 Feb 2005 (UTC)
  • This article needs a structured look. Divided according to genre perhaps. Compare to Music of Quebec--Will2k 14:23, Mar 21, 2005 (UTC)
    • Of course there is enough on this subject. Ontario is Canada's most populous province. A lot of music comes out of it, and it is the home of Much Music. - Earl Andrew 17:07, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC)
  • I wouldn't really say there's an "Ontario scene" per se. After a summary, the best approach for this article would be to focus on local/regional scene sections: Music of Toronto (and the GTA), Music of Hamilton, Music of Ottawa, Music of Northern Ontario, etc. Samaritan 22:11, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)
  • This topic is certainly a valid one. However, if the goal of CCOTW is to take an article and develop it into featured article quality, then I agree with Lommer in that I don't see this article having enough original material to bring it to that status. --Deathphoenix 15:54, 2 May 2005 (UTC)

  • There's a stub now. I've provided a number of links to sources. She didn't found the Council (IIRC - I believe that was Mel Hurtig, but I'm being lazy at the moment and just going on memory for that). She has some notable involvements outside of the Council. Charles Michel de Langlade / Charles-Michel Mouet de LangladeEdit

Reasons for nomination: Well, it's shocking he doesn't have an article. He was perhaps the most important métis (Ottawa and French Canadian parents) military leader of the 18th century. It's even arguable that he fired the first shots of the Seven Years' War. Somehow he managed to be at countless important battles in North America during that war, and led the Ottawa forces that defeated the Braddock Expedition. He was with Montcalm at the Battle of the Plains of Abraham. In his spare time, managed to be proclaimed by some as the "Father of Wisconsin." [1] Fascinating guy.
