Colin McColl

Educated at Shrewsbury School and at The Queen's College, Oxford,<ref name=burkes>Burkes Peerage and Gentry</ref> McColl joined the diplomatic service in 1950.<ref name=btac>British Threat Awareness Council</ref> He served in Laos, Vietnam, Warsaw and Geneva<ref name=btac/> before he was appointed Chief of the Secret Intelligence Service in 1989.<ref>The Secret's Out: Top British Spy Identified New York Times, 7 May 1992</ref> In retirement he was a Director of the Scottish American Investment Company.<ref>Scottish American Investment Company Annual Report 2005</ref>
In 1996 he was appointed an Honorary Fellow of The Queen's College, Oxford.<ref name=burkes/>
