The numerals 1 to 10 are constructed with nouns (inflected nouns in the EA), the gender of the numeral agreeing with that of the noun:

Numerals {{Lang|shi-latn|yan}}, {{Lang|shi-latn|yat}} "one" also serve as indefinite article, for example {{Lang|shi-latn|yan urumiy}} "one Westerner, a Westerner", and they are used independently with the meaning "anyone" ({{Lang|shi-latn|yan}}), "anything" ({{Lang|shi-latn|yat}}):
