== Secret languages == Destaing<ref>Destaing (1920:21).</ref> mentions a secret language ([[Cant (language)|argot]]) called {{Lang|shi-latn|inman}} or {{Lang|shi-latn|tadubirt}} which is spoken by "some people of Souss, in particular the descendants of Sidi Ḥmad u Musa." He quotes an example: {{Lang|shi-latn|is kn tusat inman?}} "do you speak the secret language?" Two secret languages used by Shilha women are described by Lahrouchi and Ségéral. They are called {{Lang|shi-latn|tagnawt}} (cf. Shilha {{Lang|shi-latn|agnaw}} "deaf-mute person") and {{Lang|shi-latn|taɛjmiyt}} or {{Lang|shi-latn|taqqjmiyt}}. They employ various processes, such as reduplication, to disguise the ordinary language.<ref>{{Cite journal |last1=Lahrouchi |first1=Mohamed |last2=Ségéral |first2=Philippe |date=July 2009 |title=Morphologie gabaritique et apophonie dans un langage secret féminin (taqjmit) en berbère tachelhit |url=https://www.cambridge.org/core/product/identifier/S0008413100001262/type/journal_article |journal=Canadian Journal of Linguistics |language=en |volume=54 |issue=2 |pages=291–316 |doi=10.1017/S0008413100001262 |s2cid=197667081 |issn=0008-4131}}</ref><ref>{{Cite journal |last1=Ségéral |first1=Philippe |last2=Lahrouchi |first2=Mohamed |date=2010-06-01 |title=Peripheral vowels in Tashlhiyt Berber are phonologically long: Evidence from Tagnawt, a secret language used by women |url=https://brill.com/abstract/journals/aall/2/1/article-p202_6.xml |journal=Brill's Annual of Afroasiatic Languages and Linguistics |language=en |volume=2 |issue=1 |pages=204 |doi=10.1163/187666310X12688137960740 |issn=1876-6633}}</ref>
