Proposed article mergers is a noticeboard that aims to complement the article merging process, by providing a place to request input for an ongoing merge discussion, or assistance to carry out an approved merger. It does Template:Em replace any step of the merging process, and listing an ongoing merger discussion here is purely optional.

How to use this page

What this page is for

• Requesting input to help establish consensus in an existing merge discussion
• Requesting assistance to carry out an already approved merger. This might be needed because it is technically difficult to carry out, involve particularly big articles, controversial material, at least one article assessed as B-class or higher, etc.

What this page is NOT for

• Simply expressing the opinion that two given pages should be merged: instead, follow the steps listed at Template:Section link
• Requesting obviously necessary and appropriate mergers that no one would be expected to contest: in this case you can just be WP:BOLD and do it (if someone disagrees later it can easily be reversed and a discussion initiated)
• Discussing merge proposals themselves: this should happen on the talk page of an article in a dedicated merge discussion
• Requesting help with moving (renaming) a page: see Wikipedia:Moving a page
• Requesting category merges: see Wikipedia:Categories for discussion
• Requesting template mergers: see Wikipedia:Templates for discussion

Before requesting feedback or assistance, make sure you have completed the following steps:

• Check that your request does not fall into one of the cases above
• If it is to gather input, that there is one or more reasons to merge, while the proposal does not face reasons not to
• Verify that every step listed at Template:Section link has been followed; if not, complete the process, either until step 2 (tagging the pages with the appropriate banners) if it is a request for input, or step 4 (closing the discussion) if it is a request for assistance

• The pages/sections involved
• The direction of the merger discussed
• A link to the merge discussion
• Your signature (generated by writing ~~~~)
• For requests for assistance, please also summarize the outcome of the discussion, and why assistance is needed. Any reason is valid as long as it is stated.

• Merge Ernest M. McSorley into SS Edmund Fitzgerald. Wikipedia is not a memorial and he is a classic case of WP:ONEEVENT, only being known for being the captain of the ship the day it sank. • Merge: Hoping someone can advise, as not sure on this one. I cleaned up Americana Music Association a little recently, but realised later there was a very similar page just for their annual conference/festival- Americana Music Festival & Conference. Most of the content on Americana Music Association was about the conference so I felt maybe they could be merged. There's not a great deal of sources just on the Association so expanding that page didn't seem likely. I then realised there's a third page on their Music Honors & Awards (an event that takes place as part of their conference)- which actually seems to have more sources than the other two- Americana Music Honors & Awards. So now I'm really not sure of best thing to do- three way merge? Or just keep separate and assume they can grow and become more distinct over time? Thanks. Editing84 (talk) 10:27, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
• Merge List of academic fields into Outline of academic disciplines. The lists almost entirely overlap. There was already a merge discussion initiated on both talk pages, but it didn't turn into a merge proposal. The lists are very extensive, and there are significant structural differences that might benefit from discussion and feedback before merging, especially from WP:WPLIST. • Merge Semi-metro into Premetro.Consensus was largely reached as preferred solution for merger. Also discussed was discussed merger with Light rail but Premetro deemed more appropriate. Difference is largely a matter of terminology. Both terms describe transit systems with features that overlap significantly Unique and valuable content from the Semi-metro article should be preserved and integrated into the Premetro article.   For consensus, first of all discussion need to take place. However, none of my concerns have been addressed in the past two weeks. • Merge Flag of the governor of Oklahoma into Flag of Oklahoma. The article about the governor's flag is rated stub-class and there is no way to improve it due to lack of information. • Merge Wayfinding into Wayfinding (urban or indoor), In both articles, it seems that there are 2 Wayfinding names that have the same meaning, so will readers be confused if there are 2 articles, maybe they will also be confused about where the differences lie in the two articles (whose content is mostly exactly the same). • Merge The Weather Channel (Latin America) into The Weather Channel. I am proposing the Latin American article be merged with the parent. The Latin channel is defunct. • Merge Huế with Huế (provincial city). With the entirety of Thừa Thiên Huế province being upgraded into a centrally-administered city, the latter article is now both defunct and redundant, and should be merged into the main page. • Merge DWPM to DZMM. The Metro Manila station on 630 kHz that used the DWPM callsign reverts back to the old callsign (DZMM) at 8 PM (Philippine time) of May 29th as per relevant wiki policies on radio station callsigns. This will ensure a linear continuation of a station's history rather than having a divergent article that ultimately had a short lifespan

• Merge Ioshima-class cruiser into Ning Hai-class cruiser. The two brief articles rely upon one another for important context about the same ship. The two cruisers of the class have unified articles that detail both Chinese and Japanese service history. I would like if someone with more knowledge than me can launch an official merge proposal now where votes are counted and a final decision is made to bring closure to the topic. • Merge Southern Nevada into Nevada. The article is basically a stub; its only unique information, the region definition, could easily be a couple sentences in Nevada#Geography or Geography of Nevada. Its other information is already either in the main article or repetition of information of sub-counties, and if it were to expand, it would be even more duplicate. • Merge owner's manual to user guide: Conceptually one is a subset of the other, and content-wise these are simply WP:CONTENTFORKS covering the exact same scope. The attempts to distinguish between them are blatant WP:OR, not based on RS, and the result is a confusing and reader-unhelpful mess. The Chicago Board Options Exchange became CBOE Holdings at the time of its IPO in 2010. In 2017, CBOE Holdings rebranded as Cboe Global Markets. At that point the Chicago Board Options Exchange / CBOE stopped existing. There is no separate CBOE exchange or legal entity, and there are no accurate contemporary media mentions of "Chicago Board Options Exchange" because, again, that entity doesn't exist anymore. It doesn't reflect ALL the content from the two original pages (British Lung Foundation and Asthma UK) since much of the content was poorly sourced. There are no real competing definitions of "ultra-processed food" to the Nova classification's definition, so there isn't really a need for a separate article. "Hyperpalability" is also a concept generally not discussed outside of the concept of "ultra-processed food", but as it does have an independent definition I'm more willing to be convinced it should be kept as a separate article. • Merge List of Americans of Irish descent into List of Irish Americans. The criteria for these two lists are word-for-word identical: they include "both original immigrants who obtained American citizenship and their American-born descendants." None of the other lists in the Category:Lists of American people by ethnic or national origin have this kind of overlap.
